Happy Friday to all of you lovely people! It’s the end of week four, and we now have a full SU team! After Monday’s election, you elected Hannah Hutton to take up the position of Vice-President for Academic Affairs. She was straight to work on Wednesday sitting on the Academic Board meeting, and we have already discussed some exciting new plans to shake up the rep system and get student reps more involved at Guildhall; stay tuned for further news soon!

I met with my fellow London Conservatoire Presidents on Tuesday to discuss the revival of ALCOPA, what is ALCOPA, I hear you ask? ALCOPA stands for All London Colleges of Performing Arts and comprises five institutions, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Trinity Laban and Royal Central College of Speech and Drama. We usually have one big cross conservatoire event every year, but my vision is to host at least two this academic year, in addition to more cross conservatoire society collaborations. Our first ALCOPA event of the year is the famous Halloween party (Saturday 30th October), hosted at our very own Basement Bar! We have a very limited amount of tickets for this mega event; tickets will be released on Monday 18th October at 5pm via Google Form. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, we have another tasty announcement next week about a new partnership the SU has just made; stay tuned!

It’s also Oktoberfest season, and next Friday, 15th October is Guildhall Oktoberfest 2021; there are no excuses not to come down and get shit faced with your pals! It’s a free event (which means more money for drinks), we have steins, lots of beer, we’ve got a shit hot oompah band (German Jukebox), and I want to see you all there next Friday! Próst!

Tonight in the Basement, we have DJ Night Part 2! Get down, bring your fish and chips, play some pool and have a bop to some of Guildhalls up and coming DJ’s! I hope you all have a lovely weekend, stay safe, do your tests, get jabbed and have a good one!
