Hi all, I hope you are all having a lovely week! I am very aware that we are in the midst of a hectic time for everyone with deadlines, chamber exams, productions etc etc, so I will keep my briefing short.
If you haven’t seen some of our recent posts on our socials, then you might have missed some of the work that the SU has been getting up to behind the scenes, including a successful campaign ending in the school now renewing all the printers across Guildhall, a new coffee machine being installed in Silk Street Cafe, new midi keyboards in the silk street common room and much more. Read the full SSLC notes below, highlighting the SU’s work recently and the improvements being made across the school.
Since my last newsletter, the new 2022/23 SU team has been elected by you, the student body! Congratulations to all candidates who ran for positions this year; it was great to see candidates applying from all courses. I am also delighted to announce that the 2022/23 SU Team will be the first to have officers in positions from Music (WBP, Strings), Research, Production Arts and Drama, which is incredible! I can’t wait to see the union go from strength to strength next year under this new team, and once again would like to congratulate all candidates on a fantastic election this year! This year, the new team will take office on the 1st of August, including a short handover period for all new officers to ensure a smooth transition between SU teams.
This time it’s a packed newsletter; if you have a spare minute, check out the whole thing below.
Best of luck with the remainder of your exams, finals, deadlines, productions, grad projects and everything in between!
Harry Plant (He/Him)
Guildhall SU President 2020-22
